Day-old bread is easiest to cube for fondue. If you haven’t been able to plan ahead, you can lightly toast the bread in the oven. In addition to cubed French, Italian and pumpernickel (or other dark) bread

Category Some Options
Fruit Apple slices, dates, figs, grapes, pear slices, strawberries
Garnishes Cornichons, pickled cipollini onions, pretzel sticks
Meat cubed ham or speck, slices of smokey sausage links or mini links, pepperoni, smoked chicken breast,
Seafood sea leg, shrimp, whatever you can afford
Vegetables (Cooked) roasted shallots, your favorite steamed vegetables (in a way that enables them to be easily speared)
Vegetables (Raw) Broccoli and cauliflower florets, carrot and fennel sticks, cherry tomatoes, zucchini
