Bacon Cocktail Recipe

Bringing Home The Bacon In A Shot Glass

Thanks to Hornitos Tequila for this tasty cocktail recipe.

Bacon Cocktail Recipe

Serve strips of caramelized bacon as the hors d’oeuvre.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 parts añejo Tequila
  • Maple syrup to rim glass
  • Bacon bits to rim glass (we strongly suggest REAL bacon bits, not the vegetable protein)

Preparation

  1. Rim shot glass with maple syrup, then dip rim in a plate of bacon bits.
  2. Fill shot glass with tequila. Drink up: You deserve it.

Caramelized Bacon Strips Recipe

We enjoy this at least once a week at THE NIBBLE. Warning: one pound of bacon seems to disappear—it’s irresistible. It can be prepared several hours in advance. You can also mince pieces for the cocktail rim.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thin-sliced bacon (we use a quality brand such as Nueske’s or Niman Ranch)
  • 1-1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place sugar in shallow pan. Coat bacon strips completely on both sides.
  3. Place bacon sticks in a large broiling pan or on a rack set atop a pan. Cook until brown, turning once (about eight minutes per side).
  4. Transfer to a clean rack to drain. Serve warm or at room temperature.
