Saké Cocktail Recipes

Mix These Saké Cocktails And Lift Your Glass: Kanpai!

Overview

Saké is delicious drunk straight, like wine, but it also makes delicious cocktails, as these 20 recipes prove. Have a saké cocktail party and offer a menu of 6 or so choices—plus straight saké, of course.

These recipes are courtesy of Momokawa Saké, Junmai Ginjo-style sakés made by SakéOne, a craft sakéry in Oregon (learn about the different types of saké). The recipes use different styles of saké:

  • Diamond, an off-dry style (typically pairs with scallops, oysters, halibut, grilled poultry, salads and pasta tossed with sharp cheeses like feta and Parmesan)
  • Pearl, a cloudy and rich Nigori style (old style) saké
  • Ruby, a slightly sweet style (pairs with light and rich fish, from halibut to salmon and tuna; chicken and pork; fruit salads; squash)
  • Silver, aromatic, crisp and dry Tanrei style sake (typically pairs with sushi, sashimi and tempura)
  • Flavored sakés, including peach, pear, plum and raspberry (best for cocktails or sipping with dessert)

Now, on to the cocktails!
