Gnu Foods Flavor & Fiber Orange Cranberry Bar

“Entirely Natural, High Fiber, No Trans Fat, No Refined Sugars, With 6 Whole Grains, No High Fructose Corn Syrup.” First ingredient: whole rolled oats. Strong orange aroma with an immediate and very strong orange flavor. Very chewy with a few crunchy bits. Not bad, but the orange presence is excessive. Certified kosher by The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations. Per bar (45 g): 130 calories, 30 calories from fat, no saturated fat or cholesterol, 35mg sodium, 12g fiber (including 8g soluble fiber), 11g sugars, 3g protein. GnuFoods.com

Certified organic. “Now with Antioxidants, 8g Whole Grain, Good Source of Vitamins C & E, Made with No Genetically Engineered Ingredients.” First ingredient: organic brown rice syrup. Chocolate drizzle and mini chips atop a chocolate-looking bar. Much too sweet, with a mildly chocolate taste. Certified kosher by KOF-K Kosher Supervision. • 6 Grain Bar: Cinnamon. First ingredient: “Red/White Wheat.” Cake-like texture with a great grain presence. Pleasant cinnamon flavor, although cinnamon isn’t listed as an ingredient. I’d like a little more dried fruit, however, and the bar is slightly too sweet.
  • 6 Grain Bar: Chocolate. First ingredient: “Red/White Wheat.” This bar contains chocolate chips (not listed as an ingredient), so it’s not a chocolate granola bar per se. Another softer, almost cake-like texture with lots of grain. I really enjoyed the currants in here, but there aren’t enough chocolate chips.

  • 6 Grain Bar: Peanut Butter. Grainy, chewy, with cake-like texture. Currants add a nice contrast in texture and a little sweetness. Very good peanut butter flavor. Recommended.
  • Nutzeez+. First ingredient: rolled oats. Big chunks of dried fruit, with a crumblier texture than most. Strong seed presence, as might be expected from a bar containing flax, pumpkin, and sesame seeds. The tastes of the seeds combine to be a little too much for me, but if you’re a big seed fan you’d probably really enjoy this bar.
