  • Chocolate Almond Fudge Energy Bar. “Nutrition for Sustained Energy, Made with Organic Oats & Soybeans, High in Protein, No Trans Fats, All Natural, 70% Organic Ingredients, We Source Ingredients That Are Not Genetically Engineered.” First ingredient: organic brown rice syrup. • CLIF Kid Organic ZBar (Chocolate Chip). Certified organic. “Baked Whole Grain Energy Bar, No Trans Fats, 12 Vitamins & Minerals, No High Fructose Corn Syrup, We Source Ingredients That Are Not Made Using Wheat And Are Not Genetically Engineered.” First ingredient: organic chocolate chips. Top is attractively drizzled with chocolate. Too sweet; flavors of various sweetening syrups and fig paste are overwhelming. • CLIF Kid Organic ZBar (Honey Graham). Certified organic. Same claims as Chocolate Chip ZBar. First ingredient: organic rolled oats. Very chewy bar, drizzled with icing on top. Some graham cracker taste initially fades to an unpleasant flavor. Curves Apple Streusel Chewy Granola Bars

“Naturally flavored.” First ingredient: chicory root extract. Pleasant cinnamon aroma; bars are drizzled with “icing” on top. Bar is slightly sticky to the touch. Light textured. Initial slight sweetness quickly overpowered by a massive rush of apple flavor, possibly from the dried apples that are one ingredient. Per bar (25g): 100 calories, 10 calories from fat, no saturated fat, no cholesterol, 75mg sodium, 5g fiber, 7g sugars, 1g protein. CurvesFoods.com

Eat Green Foods Granola Bars

No nutrition information. “Local, Seasonal, Sustainable.” All of these bars are of the minimally-processed type, with great oat presence. EatGreenFoods.com

  • Chocolate Cherry Granola Bar. First ingredient: organic rolled oats. Chewy, grainy. Chocolate chips and small bits of dried cherries are visible atop the bar. Not enough dried cherries and an odd, salty aftertaste.
  • Dried Cherry. First ingredient: organic rolled oats. Chewy, grainy. A little salty, but not too bad. Not enough dried cherries.
  • Peanut Butter & Chocolate Granola Bar. First ingredient: rolled oats. Crisp, crunchy, with a definite peanut butter flavor. Chocolate chips on top of bar. Occasional pockets of honey flavor in bar, but not too sweet. Very dry.
  • Peanut Butter & Honey. First ingredient: organic rolled oats. More crisp than crunchy; light-textured. Fine peanut butter presence with a little salty sweetness at the end. Recommended.
