Beverages to be Thankful For

This Thanksgiving, Think Beyond Cider & Cocktails

We present to you some of our favorite holiday libations, that will take you from Thanksgiving through the New Year. We’ve got something for everyone: those who like it hot, those who prefer to chill, those who like it fizzy and fruity, and those who like it spicy. This holiday season, raise your glass and give thanks for these great beverages.

All prices are subject to change and shipping is additional.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Comforting Brews

Adagio Winter Sampler

When we want to snuggle with a warm blanket, a warm beverage and a good book but aren’t in the mood for a hot chocolate, Adagio’s Holiday Tea Sampler always hits the spot. Each tea is made with premium black tea leaves from Sri Lanka. We like how much variety Adagio has to offer: candy apple (flavored with caramel and apple pieces), candy cane, chestnut, cranberry, gingerbread & pumpkin spice (flavored with pumpkin and exotic spices). We can pick the tea that suits our mood and watch winter settle in with a smile. The sampler also is a great idea for a seasonal tea party...and makes a great hostess gift.

All of the flavors in this line of hot chocolates will please palates of all ages. Each flavor maintains a subtleness that kids won’t find overwhelming, and adults won’t find overly sweet. The Smooth Royal Hot Chocolates line includes Mocha, Cinnamon and Orange, and Dark Chocolate mixes, and the Chocolate Chunk line, in which chunks of tasty chocolate add richness and depth, features Mint Chocolate Chunk, Coconut Chocolate Chunk and Dark Chocolate Chunk. If you are serving those who need to limit their sugar intake, The King’s Cupboard also offers two flavors of excellent sugar-free hot chocolates.

Saxon Drinking Chocolates

Attractively packaged and flavored with exotic spices and rich chocolate, Saxon’s drinking chocolates are an impressive holiday beverage. Their Fine Belgian Crème Brûlée tastes as velvety as the classic dessert, though we do miss the fun of cracking the caramelized sugar topping. The Real Dark flavor certainly lives up to its name, and will please those who find that most hot chocolates simply don’t supply enough of a chocolate fix. For those who like it spicy, Aztec Spice and Chocolate Chai round out this collection, each offering a unique and fragrant twist on classic hot cocoas.

Spice Hunter’s Winter Sippers

Spice Hunter has something for everyone. Their rich and creamy hot buttered rum drink is warm and soothing, with a light citrus bite from the interesting addition of lemon oil. Just add the Hot Buttered Rum mix to hot milk, or mix with butter, hot water and a jigger of rum. Other winter sippers include a traditional hot chocolate called Cioccolata, a mouth-tingling Spiced Cioccolata and New England Mulling Spices, which makes perfect hot spiced cider or mulled wine.

Keeping Our Cool

It might be cold outside, but it’s warm in here. Enjoy these frosty drinks near a fireplace, or in the cozy company of those you love.

Pumpkin Beers

A tall frosty mug of beer may invoke images of summertime, but a great pumpkin brew can be sipped even as the snow is falling outside your window. We chose three beers for this holiday season, and hopefully at least one of them can be found on the shelves of a retailer in your area.

  • Lucky folks in the Northeast can enjoy Brooklyn Brewery’s Post Road Pumpkin Ale. This carrot-colored libation smells faintly of caramel and packs enough of a pumpkin punch without being overly sweet. Visit BrooklynBrewery.com for more information.
  • The Shipyard’s Pumpkinhead Ale is a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with delightful aromatics and subtle spiced flavor. It is available in 25 states across the country. Check out Shipyard.com to find out where it is sold.
  • Portland Brewing’s Buffalo Bill’s Pumpkin Ale is probably the most accessible of these three beers and one of our favorites (click here for our review). It can be purchased here). Light and spicy, this beer makes a great accompaniment to a turkey sandwich or a thick slab of pumpkin pie.

Doc’s Draft Hard Ciders

Doc’s Draft Hard Ciders come in three crisp autumn flavors: Hard Apple Cider, Hard Pear Cider, and Doc’s Framboise (raspberry). Each flavor has a uniquely tart and refreshing flavor that is not at all cloying. Pour a tall frosty glass as an alternative to wines and beers. We think that these pair just as well with a hearty turkey dinner as they do with a light post-holiday brunch.

Sparkling Juices

The new trend of “adult sodas,” made from mainly pure fruit juice and carbonated water, are perfect for the holidays. They eliminate the need to keep overly sugary colas and sodas on hand for kids and those who don’t drink alcohol, and they look attractive in clear glasses.

Fizzy Lizzy’s Apple and Cranberry flavors will delight guests, and GuS’s Extra Dry Ginger Ale, Dry Cranberry Lime, and Dry Crimson Grape will satisfy those who are abstaining from alcohol. Izze’s Blackberry, Pomegranate and Pear sparkling juices are

All of these juices are also great for making sorbets and savory fruit sauces, so buy a few extra bottles and have fun tying them into your holiday meals.
