Cocktail Recipes: Modern Twists

Try something new and different with gin!

 

Gin Mojito

Instead of rum, try it with gin.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots gin

  • 1 shot fresh lime juice

  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • Bar spoon of sugar
  • Splash simple syrup
  • Apple juice

Directions

  • Muddle mint and sugar in highball
    glass, add everything else but the
    apple juice.
  • Fill glass with crushed ice, add apple
    juice.
  • Garnish with mint sprig.

Red Snapper (Gin Bloody Mary)

Vodka is the standard; strike a new path with gin.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces Tomato Juice (read our
    review of the best tomato juice)

  • 2 shots gin

  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

  • 5 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
  • 5 dashes Tabasco
  • Healthy splash of red wine
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Celery salt to taste

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients. Pour over
    ice in a Collins glass.
  • Garnish with a celery stick or a dill
    pickle spear.

Watermelon Martini

Don’t save it for summer: You can buy watermelon juice year-round.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots gin

  • 1/2 shot simple syrup

  • Lots of cubed watermelon flesh

Directions

  • Shake and strain into a martini
    glass.
  • Garnish with a watermelon wedge.
