Elegant Cheesecakes ... And Layer Cakes Too!

With three national occasions coming up—Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Graduation—we hasten to introduce a purveyor of truly memorable cakes. These edible artworks will grace your table or be a gorgeous emissary—for this season’s special occasions or any others throughout the year.

We haven’t come across any cakes more elegant than the creations of Elegant Cheese Cakes—which, by the way, handcrafts cheesecakes, layer cakes, traditional and innovative wedding cakes, groom’s cakes and cakes for special events and corporate product launches.  You can even have a cake made in your own image. Led by pastry chef and owner Susan Morgan, these cakes are works of art that will have guests or giftees applauding. Your cake will live in memory more than most gifts you could bestow.

Pumpkin CheesecakeThe basic design is cake-as-an-edible-gift-wrapped-package, but the company’s artistry knows no bounds. The website is an art gallery of masterpieces: In addition to cakes that look like a handbag, a flowerpot of hydrangeas, and a broad-brimmed hat (see below), there are a laptop, a grand piano, a classroom tableaux with separate cake components for blackboard, books, notepaper, pencil and apple, an easy chair with newspaper, a burger and a shake, a fishing basket and the Eiffel Tower. Whatever your theme and color scheme, it can be translated into a delicious masterpiece.

This pumpkin is a traditional plain cheesecake with a pumpkin hazelnut toffee swirl on a cookie crust. $110.

Top-quality ingredients are baked into cakes that are then wrapped in chocolate fondant*, which the company calls “chocolate wrapping paper.” This name may be a good thing, as most people don’t know what fondant is, and even in the world of confections it has multiple meanings.

All components are imaginative—not just the design. The “wrapping paper” is colored with an artist’s eye. Crusts are carefully-chosen counterpoints. Our raspberry swirl cheesecake on a chocolate macadamia crust, for example, was wrapped in lavender-colored fondant with a white fondant ribbon and bow. The white chocolate and dark chocolate butter cake on a academia crust was wrapped in a milk chocolate-colored “paper” decorated with pink and orange circles. Cake layers were separated by raspberry mousse and milk butter cream.

*Fondant is a paste made of sugar, glycerine, and cornstarch, which is rolled like dough to a 1/8" - 1/16" thickness and draped over a cake instead of a traditional frosting. It can be colored and flavored. Fondant provides a perfect, smooth coating for decorating. Fondant also seals in moisturizer, enabling cakes to stay fresher longer. While most Americans have grown up with buttercream, the elegant look of rolled fondant, long popular with European patissiers, is becoming more popular here. Fondant has multiple meanings, the most prominent of which is the creamy center of a bonbon.

Cheesecake Burger Hydrangea Cheesecake Chocolate Armchair

Bring this burger to your next barbecue: Butterfinger crunch swirl cheesecake on a chocolate crust with all the (edible) condiments made of handcrafted Belgian chocolate. $150.00 Or instead of a burger, say it with flowers: chocolate hydrangeas in a chocolate flowerpot with cheesecake inside, $100. The chocolate armchair is white chocolate-wrapped citrus cheesecake on a lemon hazelnut crust, $140. Everything you see is edible, except the service plates.

While we have shown mostly cheesecakes here, there are a dozen popular layer cakes, from traditional carrot cake with white chocolate cream cheese buttercream to chocolate pistachio cake with pistachio buttercream and orange ganache. Whatever your sweet tooth demands, it will be served up here.

In addition to large cakes, there are mini cakes for party favors, edible table centerpieces, chocolate place cards...it’s cake lovers’ Fantasyland.

Due to well-engineered packaging and FedEx overnight delivery, the cakes can be shipped anywhere. Ours arrived clear across the country as easily as if they had come from across the street.

A few of the cakes appear in luxury catalogs like Neiman-Marcus, Horchow, and Mackenzie Ltd.; but you can select from the entire collection including custom designs directly at the source.

FORWARD THIS NIBBLE to your cake-loving and party-giving friends and to anyone in need of a truly impressive gift.
