We taste a lot of products each year, most of them quite delicious. These, we think, are extra-special.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for, look at our Gift Finder. Find more spirits, along with cocktail recipes and articles from cocktail planning to how to taste whiskey, in our Cocktails & Spirits Section.

Chivas Regal:
Aged 25 Years Limited Edition

Chivas has always enjoyed a position as the finest blended Scotch. In fact, the first-ever Chivas Regal blend to arrive in the U.S., in 1909, was also a 25-year-old, and was the hit of society. Now, a 25-year Chivas has returned. It has been sitting in wood barrels for 25 years, developing flavors of orange and peach, and relinquishing any alcoholic burn—it’s smooth as silk.

It’s hard to find, and we’ve seen it for $429.00 on eBay!

Domaine de Canton:
Ginger And Cognac Liqueur

What great flavor and aroma—baby ginger infused in a superior VSOP Cognac. The world’s first premium ginger liqueur was created on the French Indochine ginger root estate of Domaine de Canton, and gained popularity among the colonial French aristocracy. It’s extremely popular with us—we enjoy it straight, although it has endless cocktail applications (start with one part liqueur to three parts Champagne). The bottle is even more beautiful in person.

Rogue Spirits:
Hazelnut Spice Rum & Spruce Gin

Maverick artisan spirits producer Rogue Spirits of Portland, Oregon, makes only four spirits. We’ve had just two of them, and think they’re terrific. Hazelnut Spice Rum won the gold medal and was named Best American Rum at this year’s American Distillers Institute Rum Competition in Kentucky. Their Spruce Gin won the Bronze Medal at the 2007 World Spirits Competition, the only American-made gin to win an award. Both bring a little something extra to the table (or the bar).

Spring Water:
Mixers For Scotch & Bourbon

Surely you’re not going to let them mix tap water with that single malt! Evian isn’t right either. You need a water with character and terroir, like the fine Scotch they’re drinking. Think Cloud Juice, Gleneagles, Hildon or Oregon Rain. You might also try Spenside Glenlivet—no relation to the Scotch. Give a bottle of each to your favorite Scotch drinker as a holiday gift. Click here to read more about the exciting world of bottled waters, and about pairing specific types of waters with specific foods. Read our full reviews of Gleneagles and Oregon Rain.

St. Germain:
Elderflower Liqueur

This splendid liqueur may be made from Alpine elderflowers, but this is no old-fashioned drink from The Sound Of Music. To us it tastes like lychee, and makes simply superb sipping by itself. But pour it over over fruit and sorbet, make cocktails, or just enjoy looking at the beautiful bottle—as handsome as a piece of Baccarat. Read our full review.

Van Gogh:
Double Espresso Vodka

There’s lots of flavored vodkas out there, and Van Gogh Vodka contributes to the mix with 16 flavors (more than any other producer—most of them very good). We think that if Vincent Van Gogh himself were to return, he might give up his glass of absinthe for the Double Espresso vodka. Certainly, any vodka-drinking member of the Starbucks Generation would like a bottle.
