Gourmet Kosher Condiments With A Taste Of The Mediterranean

Across the pond, Rosie Ben-Shushan and her children Nancy and David are busy producing a variety of pastes with Mediterranean flair. For variety in the kitchen, they can be used for dips, sauces, spreads, pizzas and canapes. They’re made with all-natural ingredients—no additives, colorings, preservatives, or GMOs—and no added sugar. They’re made with extra virgin olive oil so they’re also low in saturated fats. They have no wine or vinegar, making them suitable for halal and kosher diets, and for vegans, vegetarians and diabetics. But they have tons of flavor. Great-tasting and good for you, as it were.

The line was launched in September 2003 in the U.K. and has taken off with retailers and caterers. Now it’s available in the U.S. Try your hand with:

  • Artichoke Paste: Ideal to season eggs, to spread on toasted bread, to serve with pasta, rice or potatoes; to use in canapés.
  • Black Olives Paste: An excellent topping for pasta, a toasted bread spread or canapés.
  • Hot Red Pepper Paste: Excellent for pasta, as a dip or added to curries.
  • Red Pesto: A delicious spread on toasted bread and canapés. Excellent on pasta and pizzas.
  • Spicy Sundried Tomato Paste: Excellent on pasta and vegetable salads. Use as a base for spicy sauces.
  • Sundried Tomatoes in Mediterranean Herbs and Olive Oil: For antipasti, canapés or salads.
