Product Reviews / Main Nibbles / CocktailsLt. Blender’s Frozen Cocktails in a BagEasy Frozen Drink Mixes: Just Shake & PourWhen you first see Lt. Blender’s cocktail-in-a-bag frozen drink mixes—shiny, heavy plastic with conventional graphics and a big screw cap—the immediate thought is, “This can’t possibly taste good.” But surprise—it does! A tip off are the words “all natural” on the front of the bag. You can’t go too wrong with real real coconut and real pineapple. Here’s how easy it is to make a frozen Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, Piña Colada or other frozen libation* with Lt. Blender:
*Since our original review, the Lieutenant has been very busy. He’s added frozen Eggnog, Hurricanes, Mojitos, Mudslides, Peach Bellini Wine Freezers, Sangria Wine Freezers Strawberry Wine Freezers and Sugar Free Frozen Margaritas.
There actually was a lieutenant, not named Blender but who owned a blender—in fact, the only blender in his outfit in the 82nd Airborne. Stationed in the steamy Dominican Republic in the mid-1960s, he used it to whip up many a pitcher of drinks for his fellow troops. Many years later Ralph McMorris, a frozen-yogurt mix manufacturer in Galveston, diversified into dry margarita mixes with an homage to his army buddy. So when you make your first batch, raise your glass to those guys on the beach.
