Tasting Penguin Ice Spring Water

We tasted both waters at room temperature. Colder temperatures can muffle the true qualities of any beverage, including water. Both the still and sparkling waters have a taste reflective of their high bicarbonate content (see the chart below), although the bodies are light and the minerality moderate.

Penguin Ice Clear (still water) had notes of chalk with mildly sweet undertones. Penguin Ice Sparkling was slightly more noteworthy, with a soft taste and an attractive, slick upper-mouth feel.  The carbonation added to the water brought out what were otherwise undetectable flavors in the still water, enhancing the sweetness level while also drawing out a stronger aftertaste.

Penguin Ice Clear is, fittingly, sold in a clear glass bottle; Penguin Ice Sparkling has a distinguished frosted bottle.
