Lt. Blender’s® Frozen Cocktails in a Bag

Just Freeze & Squeeze For Tasty Frozen Drinks

When you first see Lt. Blender’s cocktail-in-a-bag—shiny, heavy plastic with cartoonish graphics and a big screw cap—the immediate thought is, “This can’t possibly taste good.” But surprise—it does!

A tip off are the words “all natural” on the front of the bag. You can’t go too wrong with real real coconut and real pineapple.

Here’s how easy it is to make a Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, or Piña Colada with Lt. Blender:

  • Unscrew the cap of the bag.
  • Pour tequila and triple sec (Margarita) or rum (Strawberry Daiquiri or Piña Colada) to the first fill line (it’s 1-3/4 cups if you want to measure), replace cap and shake.
  • Add warm water to the top fill line, replace the cap and shake.
  • Place the bag in the freezer for a six hours until slushy.
  • Remove the cap and fill glasses by squeezing the bag.
  • That’s it!

One bag makes a half-gallon, or 16 four-ounce servings.

You can put the frozen bag in a cooler and bring it to the beach, the golf course, picnics, or tailgate parties. It’s ideal for pools and patios where you don’t want to carry a glass blender carafe.

While refilling a glass out of a squeeze bag that resembles a colorful hot water bottle may not be elegant, like pouring from a pitcher, Lt. Blender isn’t intended for formal entertaining.

There actually was a lieutenant, not named Blender but who owned a blender—in fact, the only blender in his outfit in the 82nd Airborne. Stationed in the steamy Dominican Republic in the mid-1960s, he used it to whip up many a pitcher of drinks for his fellow troops. Many years later Ralph McMorris, a frozen-yogurt mix manufacturer in Galveston, diversified into dry margarita mixes with an homage to his army buddy.

So when you make your first batch, raise your glass to those guys on the beach.
