The Watermelon Au Kurant

This one marries watermelon and black currant. “Au Kurant,” which refers to the black currant vodka, is a pun: “au courant” means fashionable in French.

  • 1 cup watermelon, seeded and diced
  • 1-1⁄2  ounces  Absolut Kurant
  • 1 tablespoon Triple sec
  • 1 tablespoon Rose’s lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon crème de cassis
    (blackcurrant liqueur)
  • Pickled watermelon rind for garnish

Watermelon Wave

This is a tequila drink, not a martini; but it rocks. The proportions are for a pitcher full.

  • 4 ounces blanco tequila
  • 3 ounces GranGala Triple Orange
  • 3 ounces maraschino liqueur
  • 20 ounces fresh watermelon juice
  • 2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 2 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • Watermelon wedges for garnish

  1. Buy watermelon juice or make it by removing seeds from flesh and processing in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  2. Pour all ingredients into a pitcher. Stir well.
